The Cariboo Cougars are, once again, going to participate in the Mac’s Tournament in Calgary, Alberta. The tournament will take place from December 26 – January 1 at various Calgary arenas, with the Max Bell Centre as the primary facility. This will be the Cariboo Cougars ninth consecutive appearance, as they look to repeat their 2014/2015 performnce as they hoisted the hardware for their first ever Mac’s Tournament championship. Head coach Trevor Sprague was thrilled to receive the call, emphasising how important this is for the players. This will give the boys a chance to see teams from around Canada that they regularly would not, and it also sets another goal for the Cougars in the season where they will also play for the Telus Cup in April. The Cariboo Cougars have alumni on the Mac’s Tournament Wall of Fame at th Max Bell Centre, as Brett Connolly played in the tournament and made his presence felt as CHL Rookie of the Year, in the NHL with the Tampa Bay Lightning, Boston Bruins, and now the Washington Capitals.
