Some random thoughts on what is happening in the City of Prince George, primarily in the area of politics, housing, and the unhoused. What I am trying to do is get people to take control of City Hall, the provincial government, and the feds, because guess what? They work for us, we do NOT work for them. We pay their wages, benefits, etc; and we expect to get something in return for this expenditure.
We are now in a situation where the politicians actually think they are in control, and act accordingly, and we hear such things as.
1. He/she said that he/she would do this and after I voted for them, and they were elected they did not do what they said they would do. So I complained to a couple of friends that they did not do what they promised, and they said “You really did not expect them to do what they said did you” and I said of course I did.
2. INFLATION: This is just a quick note to explain what Wage Push Inflation is. Definition, Causes, and Examples, you can look up the full explanation on your search engine, just put in Wage Push Inflation.
Wage push inflation is an overall rise in the cost of goods and services that results from a rise in wages. Employers must increase the prices they charge for goods and services to maintain corporate profits after an increase in employee pay. The overall increased cost of goods and services has a circular effect on the wage increase. Higher wages will eventually have to compensate for the increased prices of consumer goods as goods and services in the market overall increase.
Consumer goods companies are also known for making incremental wage increases for their workers. These minimum wage increases are a leading factor for wage push inflation. It’s highly prevalent with consumer goods companies, especially. Its effect is a function of the percentage increase in wages.
Wage push inflation has an inflationary spiral effect that occurs when wages are increased and businesses must charge more for their products or services to pay higher wages. Any wage increase will also increase the money supply of consumers.
And so it goes. The end result is Union workers getting huge wages, this includes all Government workers
and people on non union jobs, part time jobs, etc; do not get increases to keep up with inflation, and as a result can hardly pay for their monthly costs to live, let alone buy a house, or other high cost consumer goods.
All governments, and others are fully aware of how this works, however it seems no one in willing to do anything about it.
So, we have a situation where the people we elected or hired to look after our interests are not doing their jobs and as a result we have complete and total chaos in our Municipalities.
At this point we have no choice but to un-elect the politicians, and fire those managers who do not do the jobs we hired them for. The Unions and Salaried staff in BC can afford to take a vacation from wage and service increases for two or three years, and in fact they might still end up earning more, even without increases because the cost of living may very well come down when the high rollers quit driving the cost up.
We should not be voting for any politician that is not going to go to the wall for us to hold the line on taxes, and service increases.

I suppose the writer didn’t expect any raises in pay when he was a worker. He states clearly where the problem lies: “Employers must increase the prices they charge for goods and services to maintain corporate profits after an increase in employee pay.” CORPORATE PROFITS, not fair recompense for work provided are the driving force behind inflation and reduced access to wealth for the middle and working classes.
Ken. I suggested that people read the data on their computer in regards to Wage Push Inflation to get to understand how it actually works.
Your post indicates to me that you did not do that.
