Prince George-Mackenzie MLA Kiel Giddens has been named the Conservative critic for economic development.
Giddens assumes the portfolio from Gavin Dew following Dew’s transition to finance critic.
In addition to leading Economic Development, Giddens will retain his current responsibilities as labour critic.
“Kiel brings proven leadership and a strong understanding of the economic opportunities and challenges facing British Columbia,” said Conservative party leader Kerri-Lynn Findlay.
“Holding both the economic and labour portfolios, he will play a vital role in advancing our vision to grow our economy, support working families, and restore prosperity across the province.”
“It is an honour to take on the role of shadow minister for economic development at such a pivotal time for British Columbia,” said Giddens. “Economic opportunity and strong support for workers go hand-in-hand. I look forward to bringing a strong voice for northern and regional economies to this portfolio, holding the NDP government to account, and championing policies that attract investment and get B.C. moving forward again.”
