Huble Homestead Historic Site is more than just history and kids’ activities – it’s a lot of fun for adults too! Summer is flying by but there are still some great events scheduled at the historic park, including several ticketed experiences that are worth checking your schedule for!
First up is the popular Sherlock Challenge will take place Saturday and Sunday, August 22 and 23 – this escape room-style activity will have you and your teammates locked into the historic Huble house with a mystery to solve before time is up! Bookings are on the hour for private 45-minute sessions with up to eight people, recommended for ages 12 and up. Time slots are available for $45; pre-register with your group by August 20 at hublehomestead.ca. If you’re not sure you can handle the pressure of a timed puzzle, try the Watson Weekend activities instead, free with your admission donation. Check in with staff to collect a game sheet and work at your own pace to solve the self-guided adventure challenge, and collect a prize when you’re finished.
Homicide on the Homestead: A Murder Mystery returns on Saturday, September 19, with tickets on sale starting August 29. Adults 19+ are invited to step back to the 1920s for an afternoon of cunning calculation and strategic scheming in this fun mystery game. Mingle with the other guests and work to uncover their motives and secrets as you sift through clues to determine who among you could be a murderer! Tickets are $60 per person and include appetizers and refreshments throughout the afternoon. Costumes are strongly recommended, and help you get into character, though no acting experience is necessary, just a good sense of enthusiasm! One final ticketed event is scheduled for Saturday, October 3, for those that like a light scare with their history: Huble After Dark. This intimate tour experience calls you to the park at dusk for a guided tour of the historic site and surrounding area that isn’t normally shared. Warm up with a complimentary beverage and a quick shop in the General Store before heading home to your unsettled sleep. Tickets are $20 and go on sale September 16.
Several non-ticketed public events also remain on the schedule: dig into Potato Festival on September 7, enjoy a casual scavenger hunt with Scavenger Saturday September 26 & 27, celebrate the season with Fall on the Homestead October 11, or prepare for scares at the annual Halloween Spooktacular October 24.
For a quiet visit on your own terms, remember that the historic site is open 10:00 to 5:00 daily until September 7, and weekends until October 11. Visitors can participate in one of the daily self-led activities, request a guided tour, or explore solo. Stop into the General Store for locally made items, your favourite old-fashioned candies, pie, ice cream treats, and lunch from the barbeque, or enjoy a picnic and lawn games in the park’s open green spaces.
