Prince George achieves GreenStep Sustainable Tourism Bronze Certification

Tourism Prince George has reached a notable milestone on its path toward sustainable destination management. Following a year of rigorous evaluation, evidence-gathering, and external audit, the city has earned Bronze-level certifi cation through the GreenStep’s Sustainable Tourism program.

The certification process involved a detailed evaluation of Prince George’s performance across four key pillars of sustainability: environmental, socio-economic, natural and cultural, and destination management. This assessment is based on GreenStep’s Sustainable Tourism Destination Standard, which is aligned to the Global Sustainable Tourism Council and the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

Tourism Prince George achieved bronze on the Sustainable Tourism standard after GreenStep’s assessor team reviewed substantial documentation and evidence, confirming its alignment with the assessment criteria. With this achievement now complete, Tourism Prince George becomes the latest addition to a growing list of Canadian destinations recognized under GreenStep’s Sustainable Tourism Destination program.
