Temporary changes to checked baggage screening at Prince George Airport

The Prince George Airport Authority (PGAA) is advising travellers that temporary changes to checked baggage screening will remain in place following an equipment issue affecting CATSA’s checked baggage screening system.

PGAA has been advised that repairs are anticipated to take approximately 10 business days. During this time, manual checked baggage screening procedures will continue at the airport.

To improve processing, CATSA has located its temporary checked baggage screening operation to the International Arrivals area of the terminal, allowing multiple screening queues to operate while repairs are underway.

Travellers departing from YXS with checked baggage are encouraged to:

  • Arrive earlier than they normally would to allow additional time for check-in and checked baggage screening.
  • Check in with their airline before proceeding to the temporary checked baggage screening area located in the International Arrivals area of the terminal.
  • Follow the direction of airport, airline and CATSA staff while travelling through the terminal.

Passengers travelling with carry-on baggage only may proceed directly to the security screening checkpoint after checking in with their airline, if required.

Prince George Airport continues to work closely with CATSA and its airline partners to minimize impacts to travellers while maintaining safe and secure operations.
