On July 9, 2026, at approximately 1 pm., Vanderhoof RCMP responded to a report of a motor vehicle incident on the 1500-block of Loop Road.
Upon arrival, one man was located deceased. A suspect was arrested soon after the call was received.
The North District Major Crime Unit assumed conduct of the investigation.
Over the last 24 hours, the Major Crime Unit has worked diligently to speak with witnesses and collect available information relating to this investigation.
On July 10, 39-year-old Keegan Donald Leigh of Vanderhoof was charged with second-degree murder of the victim, a 38-year-old man.
Investigators believe this to be an isolated incident where the accused and the victim were known to each other. Mr. Leigh will remain in custody until his next court appearance.

As this matter is now before the courts, no further information will be released.
