Northern Innovation Network is pleased to announce the winner of the 2026 Northern Angel
Summit. The Angel Investors wrapped up deliberations live at the Summit Finale on June 26, at the Prince George Conference and Civic Centre and selected Stackd by DesignTIME
Solutions Inc to receive their $100,000 Angel Investment.
Based in Prince George, Bruce Johnston built Stackd as a powerful software platform that helps small to mid-size engineering and architecture firms streamline projects, simplify admin work, and stay compliant—so they can focus on what they do best. Stackd was one of the finalists in last year’s summit and took what they learned there to refine their business and strengthen their pitch to return and win this year’s competition.
The evening began with the six remaining Founders pitching one last time followed up with the evaluation of their companies by the Angel’s due diligence teams who shared what they
discovered about each company. Then, the Angel’s went into a separate room to make their final decision about which company would receive their investment.
During this time the audience asked the six Founders questions about their business with the
assistance of the evenings emcee Dave Mothus. Just before the Angel’s returned to announce which company would receive their investment, the audience voted to select who they thought should win tonight’s competition. The People’s Choice Award was awarded to Minera Systems Limited. Minera turns industrial composting facilities into multi-stream biorefineries: creating compost from municipal waste faster, with higher quality while capturing carbon emissions which are usually emitted by them.
The evening was enjoyed by several hundred people who came to celebrate innovation in the north and discover the companies who are shaping our region.

“The quality of companies in this year’s Summit has been outstanding,” said Mary Mytting,
Executive Director of Northern Innovation Network. “These founders are building ventures that matter to northern B.C., whether they are based here, growing here, or developing technology that supports the industries and communities that drive our region.”
The Northern Angel Summit was created to connect growth focused founders with local
investors and strengthen the investment ecosystem in northern BC. Founders receive hands on support to become investment ready, refine their pitches, build data rooms, and engage directly with angel investors. Angels receive practical experience reviewing companies, conducting due diligence, evaluating risk, and making real investment decisions.
The Summit is focused on innovation in and for the north. Many of the companies involved are developing solutions connected to resource industries, industrial operations, technology,
productivity, sustainability, and community economic growth.
The 2026 Summit began in March with 30 companies participating in training, with the Angel Investors selecting the Top 24 to enter the pitch competition. From there, the Founders advanced through quarter finals and semi final elimination rounds before the Top 6 were selected to compete at last night’s finale.
“Every company that participated in this year’s Summit has been part of building something
bigger than a pitch competition,” said Mytting. “This process helps founders understand how to raise capital, helps investors learn how to evaluate opportunities, and helps the region discover the innovation that is already happening here.”
The finale is one of the most important innovation and investment networking events in
Northern BC, bringing together founders, angel investors, sponsors, business leaders, industry representatives, and community champions from across the region.
New this year, the Summit finale included the Northern Innovation Showcase, a trade show
giving all Top 24 companies who competed in this summit and other innovation and tech
adjacent companies the opportunity to present their ventures to the Angels, sponsors, investors, business leaders, and members of the public. The Showcase was added to ensure that more Founders have opportunity to build visibility, make connections, and share their ideas with the broader Northern BC business community.
The finale included the inaugural Northern Innovation Showcase, a networking reception, live finalist pitches, Angel deliberations, and the award presentation.
