Prince George Public Library welcomes back Summer Snack program

The Prince George Public Library (PGPL) is pleased to announce the return of its Summer Snack Program, helping ensure that children and youth spending their summer days at the library have access to healthy, nutritious snacks.

The program is designed to support young people while school is out by offering a healthy snack during their visit to the library. While the snacks are not intended to replace a meal, they help keep kids fuelled while they read, learn, attend programs, and connect with friends.

The initiative made a meaningful impact last summer, with PGPL distributing more than 900 healthy snacks between July 7 and September 10, 2025.

“The library is more than a place to borrow books. It’s a welcoming community space where everyone should feel they belong,” said Steve Hamilton, Manager of Communications & Engagement at PGPL. “A simple snack can help a child stay focused, engaged, and make the most of everything the library has to offer.”

The Summer Snack Program is made possible through the generosity of Flex Therapeutics, whose support helps ensure no child has to spend their time at the library distracted by hunger.

“At Flex Therapeutics, we believe a healthy community is built by supporting people where they are,” said Anita Brennan, Owner of Flex Therapeutics. “If providing a simple, healthy snack helps a child enjoy their day, stay engaged, or feel cared for, then it’s an investment we’re proud to make. We’re honoured to partner with the Prince George Public Library on a program that strengthens our community one small act of kindness at a time.”

The Summer Snack Program will run throughout the summer while supplies last.
