Prince George Tapestry Singers host free singing workshops for children and youth

Thursday June 11 and 18, Prince George Tapestry Singers will host free singing workshops for Children and Youth. The goal of these workshops is to give children and youth the opportunity to experience singing in a group and enjoy being part of the choral community. There is no requirement to join the choir, they can come simply for the experience. “Singing in a group is a powerful experience, one that everyone should experience. The singers are part of a community expressing the messages in the music together. I can’t recommend Tapestry enough.” states Jenn Matthews, Tapestry Singer Parent.

There is no need for the attendees to have any experience singing or to have specific skills. Director Carolyn Duerksen explains “If you love to sing you are welcome to the workshop. There are no other requirements.” The Tapestry community aims to be a diverse community open to all, “Everyone is affirmed and our door is open to everyone.” says Duerksen. The workshop will end with everyone sharing free pizza together.

If participants want to join Tapestry Singers they will become part of an active Children’s and Youth Choral performance group that strives toward a high level of artistic excellence in choral performance along with personal and social growth. The 2026-2027 choral season will mark Tapestry Singers’ 20th Anniversary. Junior Singers include Grade 4-7 students, and the Senior Singers include Grade 7-12 students.

Workshops are:

June 11th and 18th:

Grade 3-7 from 3:30 to 5:00pm

Grade 7-12 from 6:00 to 8:00pm

At Knox Performance Centre, 1448 5th Avenue
