Kopar Administration helps Men’s Shed with new location

Kopar Administration is partnering with the Prince George Men’s Shed, marking an exciting step forward in strengthening local connections and expanding opportunities for community engagement.

The partnership began earlier this year after a March post on the Hell Yeah PG social media page highlighted that the Prince George Men’s Shed was searching for a new home. Recognizing a strong alignment with its mission and programs, the team at Kopar Administration explored how to help.

Following internal discussions, Kopar identified an ideal fit between the Men’s Shed and its BladeRunners: Construction for Youth program. With available space and a shared commitment to hands-on skill development, mentorship, and community building, discussions quickly progressed between the two organizations.

After several collaborative meetings, an agreement was reached, and on June 2, 2026, the Prince George Men’s Shed held its first official meeting at its new location within Kopar Administration.

The Men’s Shed movement is a global initiative focused on improving men’s health, well-being, and social connection by creating welcoming spaces where individuals can connect, share skills, and contribute to meaningful community projects.

Locally, the PG Men’s Shed has supported a wide range of organizations across Prince George, including the Better at Home Program, the Pacific Autism Centre, and Hospice. Their members—many of whom are highly skilled craftsmen—have contributed their time and talent to projects that strengthen community ties and improve quality of life.

“This partnership is truly about building community in every sense of the word,” said Ken Newell, Operations Manager at Kopar Administration. “When we saw the need, and how well the Men’s Shed aligned with the spirit of BladeRunners, it felt like a natural opportunity to step in and support. We’re excited to see how this collaboration grows.”

The addition of the Men’s Shed within Kopar’s facility also creates opportunities for intergenerational learning and mentorship, bringing together experienced tradespeople and young participants in a shared space focused on skill development and connection.

For more than 29 years, Kopar Administration has been dedicated to delivering employment services and supporting individuals across the communities it serves. Through workforce development programs, partnerships, and community initiatives, Kopar has consistently worked to create pathways to meaningful employment and stronger local economies.
Supporting the Prince George Men’s Shed is a continuation of that legacy.

“At Kopar, we believe strongly in giving back to the communities where we live, work, and play,” said Newell. “Providing a home for the Men’s Shed is one more way we can contribute to building a healthier, more connected community.”

With its new home, the Prince George Men’s Shed is positioned to stabilize and expand its membership and programming. The partnership opens the door to new collaborations, shared learning opportunities, and enhanced community engagement.

Both organizations look forward to growing this relationship and exploring future initiatives that benefit residents of Prince George.

Those interested in joining the PG Men’s Shed can connect through the PG Men’s Shed Facebook group.
