The City of Prince George has a new economic development strategy to guide work over the next five years, which will be presented to Council at the June 8 meeting. The strategy positions Prince George as a resilient northern economy with a clear, predictable, and competitive business environment that supports sustained industrial activity, confident downtown investment, and long-term regional stability.
The updated strategy is guided by five priorities:
- Improve how businesses navigate City policies and approvals
- Position downtown as a place to invest, work, and do business
- Strengthen the alignment and attraction of local talent
- Build on the City’s role as an industrial and logistics centre
- Achieve organizational excellence in service delivery
This work is informed by comprehensive research and a thorough engagement process. Analysis considered Prince George’s economic structure, labour market dynamics, sector performance, and investment readiness. This was complemented by engagement with businesses, Indigenous partners, community organizations, educational institutions, and regional partners, as well as a business and community survey. The updated document replaces the 2020 to 2025 economic development strategy.
In addition to the new strategy, the City’s economic development division is celebrating a big win at the BC Economic Summit last month. The team won the Community Resilience Award for the 2025 Support PG Tariff Response initiative. Together with the Prince George Chamber of Commerce and several other business development partners, efforts included a survey to gather insights from local businesses about how U.S. tariffs impacted them and how to best provide support, tailored follow-up information, workshops, new resources, and support for advocating to the provincial and federal governments.
“We are honoured to receive the Community Resilience Award for our work in 2025, which wouldn’t have been possible without the support of our local partners: Prince George Chamber of Commerce, Community Futures Fraser-Fort George, BC Northern Real Estate Board, Downtown Prince George, Tourism Prince George, CHBA Northern BC, and the Northern Regional Construction Association,” said economic development manager, Deklan Corstanje.
“Building relationships is an important aspect of the work that we do and that will continue as we move forward with our updated economic development strategy. We look forward to implementing the strategic priorities to support business confidence, increase investment, attract talent, and enhance quality of life for residents of Prince George.”

The best way to make quality of life in Prince George is to get rid of the 3/4 of the woke losers on city council including the present mayor, keep the good one like Klassen and Skakun, stop borrowing money for idiot projects costing years and years of interest and borrowing costs, LOWER PROPERTY TAXES NOT RAISE THEM, freeze city staff and council ridiculous wages , gold plated benefits and expense accounts, freeze wages of all city employees earning $100000.00 or more and make it affordable to live here again and fix the downtown drug addict, arson and crime haven downtown! Stop making it the SOCIAL SERVICES HUB OF THE NORTH and finaly fix the darn lack of parking and ridiculous charges on every street and lot surrounding the hospital and healthcare in this city!
