Downtown Prince George launches free bike valet for local summer events

Downtown Prince George announces the return and expansion of its free Event Bike Valet program for summer 2026. Building on the success of last year’s pilot initiative, the expanded program will offer even more opportunities for residents and visitors to securely park their bicycles while attending popular events both downtown and throughout the community.

The Bike Valet is designed to encourage active transportation, reduce congestion, and enhance the overall event experience by providing a safe, convenient, and welcoming space for cyclists. Attendees can simply look for the red Downtown Prince George tent to securely check their bikes while enjoying the festivities.

“This program is about continuing to build a more bike-friendly and accessible community,” said Chrisie Berry, Executive Director of Downtown Prince George. “The response to last year’s pilot program was incredibly positive, and we’re excited to expand the service in 2026 to support more events and more cyclists both downtown and beyond. While the program is designed for bicycles, we’re also happy to securely hold strollers, wagons, scooters, and really anything with wheels that people don’t want to push around while enjoying an event. We want to make it easier and more convenient for everyone to choose active transportation and spend time at community events.”

Funding for the Bike Valet program comes from the BC Cycling Coalition in partnership with the Ministry of Transportation and Transit, as part of their commitment to improving cycling accessibility and infrastructure across the province.
