UNBC hosting geology, geomorphology and geo-hazards conference

UNBC is hosting the Landscapes Through Time: Understanding the Geology, Geomorphology and Geo-Hazards of Northern-Central BC conference at the Prince George campus from April 27-29.

Supported by the Natural Resources Environmental Studies Institute and the Pacific Institute for Climate Solutions, the event brings together academic, government, industry and First Nations perspectives on land use, natural hazards and landscape change across the region.

The conference aims to make geology accessible and relevant to the public, with talks and discussions exploring how geological processes influence natural hazards, resources, recreation and everyday life in north-central B.C.
Two field trips will highlight local geological sites and landslide areas connected to the region’s glacial history.
Registration is open to the public, more information is available at: https://landscapesthroughtime2026.squarespace.com/

The keynote address by Dr. John Clague is free and open to the public. It will take place on April 27 at 7 p.m. in the Canfor Theatre.
