A new Wendy’s restaurant has officially opened in the Hart area of Prince George, bringing 49 new jobs and a continued commitment to the community.
This location, at the intersection of Highway 97 and Austin Road beside the Hart Centre Mall was officially opened with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 19th. The event was attended by Prince George Mayor Simon Yu, MLA Kiel Giddens, members of the ownership group, and restaurant staff.
The restaurant is owned and operated by Family Fast Foods Ltd., a local franchise company founded by Pat and Brenda Bell. The Bell family and their partners have owned and operated Wendy’s restaurants in Prince George since 1988, adding a Williams Lake location in 2023.
“We are proud to continue investing in Prince George,” said Pat Bell, “Our family has always been part of the Wendy’s story in this community, and it is exciting to see that legacy continue with this new location.”
Operating Partner Todd Lewis emphasized the broader community impact of the opening: “Creating opportunities for local youth helps build confidence, responsibility, and skills they’ll carry with them throughout their lives. Having started my own career when Pat and Brenda first introduced Wendy’s to Prince George, I’ve seen firsthand how these early experiences can shape future paths. It’s incredibly rewarding to be part of that journey for the next generation in the Hart community.”
The location, built by local contractor Marmot Builders, features Wendy’s latest restaurant design and technology, including digital menu boards, self-ordering kiosks, and a modern dining room experience. Guests will also be able to enjoy beverages from a Coca Cola Freestyle machine offering more than 100 drink-flavor combinations.
Business partner Doug Bell, who is also operator of Northern Lights Winery, affirmed the company remains deeply committed to the community that has supported its restaurants for nearly forty years.
“We have always believed in supporting those that support us,” said Bell. “Prince George has been incredibly good to our family and our team over the years. Adding another business is our way of strengthening that connection.”
Family Fast Foods Ltd. has remained locally owned throughout its history and continues to focus on long-term investment in the region.
