Council supports Canadian Native Fastball Championships with $118,000

Council received a report requesting support for the Spruce City Men’s Fastball Association to host the 2026 Canadian Native Fastball Championships which are due to be held in Prince George from July 30 to August 2. 

Council approved providing financial support for the 2026 event with funding of $118,000 and up to $60,000 in-kind and that these funds come from the Major Events Reserve.

The Spruce City Men’s Fastball Association, who also presented as a delegation at the meeting, successfully hosted the Canadian Native Fastball Championships in both 2016 and 2022. The 2026 Canadian Native Fastball Championships are expected to generate approximately $5 million in direct economic impact for the City of Prince George. The three-day tournament is expected to have up to 80 teams, bringing more than 1,200 athletes plus friends and families for an estimated total of 2,500 people coming into the community for this event.
