Two Rivers Galley is presenting a new exhibit: From Far and Wide: The Soundscapes which rill run from February 6 to April 5.
From Far and Wide: The Soundscapes brings together the work of three artists whose practices explore sound as a powerful marker of place, memory, and belonging. Rather than functioning as background, sound in this exhibition emerges as an immersive and spatial experience, one that shapes how we orient ourselves, relate to others, and understand the environments we inhabit.
Featuring artists Mathieu Léger (New Brunswick), Ian Foster (Newfoundland and Labrador), and Anju Singh (British Columbia), the exhibition draws on soundscapes from across Canada’s east and west coasts. Each artist works attentively with recorded sound, landscape, and lived experience, approaching listening as both a creative and reflective act. Their works reveal how sound can be structured, layered, and composed to express cultural context and a sense of home.
By weaving together distinct regional soundscapes, From Far and Wide invites visitors to slow down and listen closely, discovering sound not only as something we hear, but as a way of knowing, connecting, and being present in place.

From Here to There to Here (Ambulations) with Mathieu Léger Wednesday, February 4 – Beginning at 1 p.m.
Join From Far and Wide: The Soundscapes artist Mathieu Léger as he creates an artwork for the exhibition while traversing the city. This walk will span approximately 13–20 kilometres, and participants are welcome to join for any length of time they choose. For those interested in creating alongside Léger, mechanisms and materials will be provided. This workshop invites participants to reflect on place, consider artmaking as an archive, and experience a unique, embodied journey through the city.
Exploring Sonic Transmission and Resonance with Anju Singh Friday, February 6 – 3:30–5:30 p.m.
Led by artist Anju Singh, this workshop is open to a maximum of 12 participants. Participants will create and perform sound pieces using transmission, resonance, and vibration. The session introduces tools, instruments, techniques, and approaches drawn from Singh’s ongoing research and creative practice, while offering insight into the development of UNSOUND RESILIENCE, her installation featured in the exhibition.
