Fire hits Norwood Street residence

On January 13 at approximately 3 p.m., Prince George Fire Rescue crews responded to a structure fire in the 1700 block of Norwood Street.

First arriving crews found heavy smoke issuing from the back of the residence and fire coming through the roof. The building was vacant and had been boarded up, awaiting demolition. Due to the poor integrity of the structure, crews could not enter the building and had to fight the fire from the exterior.

Damage is estimated at $150,000 and the cause is under investigation. No injuries were reported.
