
Northern BC Queer Connection Society is presenting Serving with Pride: Inclusive Approaches to 2SLGBTQIA+ Communities on September 25, the first conference of its kind in Northern British Columbia.
This full-day event is designed for professionals, community leaders, and anyone interested in learning how to create safer, more welcoming, and inclusive spaces for 2SLGBTQIA+ people. It will bring together national and local experts to share practical tools, research, and lived experience that help create safer, more welcoming, and inclusive spaces for 2SLGBTQIA+ people.
Program Highlights
● Workshops led by Egale Canada, University of Northern British Columbia, Northern BC Queer Connection Society, and Community Living BC (pre-registration required, limited seating). Egale will also join the closing panel, open to all attendees.
● Keynote Speaker: Adrienne Smith, human rights lawyer and advocate.
● Featured Presentations by Dr. Ingrid Cosio and Jean Baptiste.
● Film Screening: A Place Where I Belong, shown in Prince George less than two weeks after its premiere at the Vancouver Queer Film Festival.
● Connecting Queer Communities Presentation: How to start important conversations about sexuality, disability, and relationships.
● Expert Panel: Local and national voices sharing how different sectors can work together to better support 2SLGBTQIA+ communities. Breakfast, lunch, and refreshments are included with registration. Cost: $170+ registration fee’s & taxes for the full day. This includes access to workshops, keynote and featured speakers, film screening, presentations, panel discussions, plus breakfast, lunch, and refreshments. Attendees must pre-register for one workshop at checkout.
