City gearing up for Canada Day in the park

The City of Prince George is getting ready for another exciting Canada Day celebration at Lheidli T’enneh Memorial Park on July 1 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Opening ceremonies at the bandshell start at noon with an opening from Lheidli T’enneh First Nation Elder Lenora White and a cake cutting to recognize Canada’s 158th anniversary at 12:30 p.m. The marketplace, food pavilion, and kids zone open at 11 a.m.

This year, the city is pleased to offer a free accessible shuttle between the Canfor Leisure Pool and Lheidli T’enneh Memorial Park all day for residents who don’t want to find parking near the park. The Northern Health Connections shuttle will arrive on 7th Avenue outside the Canfor Leisure Pool every half hour between 11 a.m. and 6:30 p.m.

Despite recent rainfall, the city is not hosting fireworks this year due to the current BC Wildfire burning restrictions.
