Fire Information Officer, Julia Caranci, provides an update on the Pocket Knife Creek wildfire (G80352) located in the Fort St. John Fire Zone.
On June 8, the Pocket Knife Creek wildfire (G80352) merged with fire G90491 and impacted Highway 97 (the Alaska Highway) during a two-day wind event that drove extreme fire behaviour and pushed the fire to the northeast. Rain is expected for the area over the next three days, which could potentially reduce fire behaviour in the short-term.
The situation is dynamic and more impacts to Highway 97 are possible. Check www.drivebc.ca for the most current information on road conditions.
