“This is going to be a great event, at a great venue, and best of all, it is free for local families,” said Paula Bass, president of CUPE’s Northern Area District Council and of CUPE 3742, School District 57 support workers, in a news release. “Our members are proud to serve the communities we live and work in, and this is just one more way we can give back.”
The Canadian Union of Public Employees represents workers in local municipalities, public schools, libraries, and other community services in the Prince George region and across the province. CUPE members often give back to the community they serve through events, sponsorships, donations and other local community programs.
“With everything going on in the world, and with a tough fire season likely ahead, it is important that we build and support community,” said Bass. “CUPE members are all about working together to make things better for everyone, so hosting events like this is just part of what it means to support each other and our community.”
CUPE is Canada’s largest union, with more than 750,000 members coast-to-coast, and more than 100,000 in British Columbia.
