The BC Wildfire Service is continuing to respond to the Pocket Knife Creek wildfire (G80352), located 10 kilometres northwest of Buckinghorse. Today, strong winds are driving growth to the northeast, and it is possible that this fire could impact Highway 97 this afternoon. If a closure becomes necessary, it will be in effect from the brake check area on the north side of the Sikanni River to Prophet River.
This fire is already highly visible from the highway and smoke may affect visibility. Motorists are asked to use extreme caution while traveling through this area.
