At a special public meeting held on April 22, 2025, the School District 57 board passed a motion to officially close Giscome Elementary School effective June 30, 2025.
Board Chair Craig Brennan stated, “School closure decisions are one of the most difficult decisions a board of education makes,” said board chair Craig Brennan. “The board thanks the Giscome school community for their patience and input during this process. Our focus now turns to supporting the school community over the next few months as they prepare for the school closure and transition for the fall of 2025.”
Effective for the 2025-26 school year the Giscome Elementary School catchment area will be included in the Blackburn Elementary School catchment.
