As of June 30, agricultural plastics will no longer be collected at the McBride Regional Transfer Station. Cleanfarms operated this pilot program and they have not been able to secure additional funding to continue offering the service.
Agricultural plastics are not covered by the Recycle BC program and will not be accepted when Recycle BC depot opens at the McBride Regional Transfer Station in summer 2025. The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Strategy has not currently identified agriculture plastics as a material in the Recycling Regulation with an Extended Producer Responsibility Policy, but Cleanfarms has spearheaded several pilot programs in anticipation of an EPR program being established in the future.
