After some confusion, the Liberals have appointed Clinton Emslie as their candidate in the Cariboo-Prince George riding.
Chris Beach had announced that he was the Liberal candidate in the riding, however, the announcement was premature as he hadn’t been approved by the party.
Born and raised in South Africa, Emslie immigrated to Canada over a decade ago, and has established deep roots and connections in the community, where he has worked to improve mental health services for the people of Cariboo-Prince George. His efforts to reduce barriers for health care workers to transition internationally or inter-provincially are supported by his life partner, a psychotherapist with more than 30 years of experience in mental health care services. Emslie holds two business degrees, a diploma in Canadian Immigration Law, and has more than thirty years of experience in manufacturing and corporate industries.
He earned a Community Leadership Award from Prime Minister Justin Trudeau 2018.
Emslie has seen firsthand the opportunities and challenges that middle class families face every day, and he understands the issues and priorities of Cariboo-Prince George. Affordability, the tariff crisis on our timber industries, crime and addiction problems, access to healthcare, and economic issues that affect jobs and businesses are top of mind concerns. He believes that creating a viable tourism industry for the Cariboo-Prince George riding is of utmost importance. It will diversify our offerings to the rest of Canada, beyond the timber that we are so well known for, he says.
