Canadian Trumpers must choose Canada

There are a lot of Trump supporters in this country. Some of them I would even class as my friends.

They must change. Not for me. For their country.

U.S. President Donald Trump has declared war on this country. Pure and simple. Economic war is still war and talk of making Canada the 51^st state, talk of erasing the 49^th parallel, talk of taking over the Great Lakes, talk of completely destroying the auto sector in this country, and imposing a disastrous trade war, can only be viewed as hostile.

Canada is to Trump as Ukraine is to Putin – something to be conquered, assimilated, and then raped.

Canada and Ukraine are both smaller countries whose closest neighbour is a superpower that considers itself aggrieved by our very existence.

Just as Putin has pounded much of Ukraine into rubble, Trump wants to pound Canada into rubble, maybe not physically (yet), but rubble just the same. He’s already started.

We’re in a fight for our existence as a country.

For all of those on this side of the line who support Trump, you need to make a choice.

Are you a Canadian? Or are you a Trumper?

Are you a Canadian? Or are you an insurgent?

Are you a Canadian? Or are you a traitor?

Let us know. Most of the pro-Trump folks I’ve met over the years love to be ‘in-your-face’ about it. It’s not enough to simply shrink away and be silent now that now that you know being ‘MAGA’ means destroying your country, being complacent to a hostile takeover.

If you’re still a Trump supporter in this country, I suggest you emigrate south (although Trump will probably throw you in a cage for a while and then send you back).

Or, you can join the fight to save the country that afforded you the luxury of espousing differing views … something that is fast disappearing in Trump’s America.

Speak up and say what Trump is doing is wrong. Speak up for what is right. Speak up for your country. Speak up for Canada.
