Fifteenth annual ‘Ut’loo Noye Khunni Weaving Words celebration set for March 5-8

The 15th annual ‘Ut’loo Noye Khunni – Weaving Words Celebration is scheduled for March 5 to 8, 2025, at the University of Northern British Columbia (UNBC) and various venues across Prince George. This year’s theme, Story Forward: Journeying with You(th), emphasizes the transformative power of storytelling in envisioning futures that honour Indigenous knowledge and perspectives.
 
The festival will feature a diverse lineup of esteemed authors and artists, including Cherie Dimaline, David A. Robertson, Richard Van Camp, Paul Michel, Keilani Rose, Garry Gottfriedson, Tenille Campbell and Te Aturangi Nepia-Clamp, among others. Their participation underscores the event’s commitment to celebrating stories for and by youth, highlighting the role of storytelling in fostering cultural exchange and community engagement.

The ‘Ut’loo Noye Khunni – Weaving Words Celebration is honoured to take place on the traditional territory of the Lheidli T’enneh, a region rich in history and storytelling traditions. The festival aims to reflect this deep connection through a multi-day event that highlights both traditional and contemporary Indigenous storytelling across various mediums, including written, oral, dance, drumming and song.
