Mounties kept busy in PG over weekend, multiple arrests made

Police officers in Prince George were kept busy over the weekend, after three vehicles were stolen from a locked compound.

On Saturday, January 18, 2025, just after 6:00 a.m., police officers were advised that three vehicles and a trailer were stolen from a compound on the 8900-block of Milwaukee Way. The stolen vehicles included a Ford F350, a Toyota Tercel, a Ford F250 and a flat deck tri-axle trailer.

The Toyota Tercel was located on the 9500-block of Sintich Road on Sunday, January 19, just after 2:00 p.m. Responding police officers attempted a traffic stop with the car, however it fled from police, striking an unoccupied police vehicle as it sped away. Police officers successfully deployed a spike belt that disabled the front tires of the vehicle near the intersection of Old Caribou Highway and Highway 16 east. The suspect continued to drive the car on flat tires until he reached the intersection of Irwin Street and Fourth Avenue, where he collided with a snow bank. The driver was arrested by police officers and held in-custody until he could attend court. The driver is known to police and at the time had one outstanding warrant for his arrest.

Later that same day, shortly before 6:00 p.m., police officers observed the F350 driving southbound through the Buckhorn area on Highway 97. Spike belts were deployed successfully twice on the vehicle, though the driver continued driving on the popped tires through the Buckhorn and Red Rock areas before colliding with a ditch where the driver then fled on foot. A Police Dog Services team located the driver a short distance away; he was arrested and held in-custody until he could attend court. Police officers recognized the driver from previous interactions, and noted he had four outstanding arrest warrants.

“Thankfully, despite one police vehicle being struck and the dangerous driving exhibited by these suspects, no one was injured during these investigations,” states Cpl. Jennifer Cooper, Media Relations Officer for the Prince George RCMP. Police are still looking for the red 1993 Ford F350 and the 2024 black Southland flat deck trailer that remain outstanding.

These investigations remain ongoing.
