Wilson nets 13, Baukin grabs a double-double in a home loss to TWU

Saturday night in Prince George, in front of a frenzied, student-heavy crowd at Brownridge Court, the UNBC Timberwolves (1-11) fell 75-57 to the Trinity Western Spartans (6-7). Josh Belvin (21) and Jerric Palma (16) did the heavy lifting for the visitors offensively while Marcus Wilson fired a career-high 13 points in response to lead the Timberwolves. Chris Ainsley (11) and Evgeny. Baukin (10) also finished in double-digits for UNBC. Baukin was a menace on the boards too, grabbing a game-high 14 on his way to a double-double.

1st Quarter –

  • An 11-5 run to start the game for Trinity Western.
  • Connor Platz led the Spartans with seven points in the first quarter while David Mutabazi added four.
  • Evgeny Baukin led the TWolves with four points while Milan Pasquale and Marcus Wilson both hit threes.

2nd Quarter –

  • Trinity Western outscored UNBC 21-10 in the second.
  • Chris Ainsley supplied six of the 10 for UNBC while Josh Gillespie and Wilson added two apiece.
  • Jerric Palma had a big second quarter for Trinity Western as he racked up nine points on four-of-seven from the field.
  • At the halfway point, David Mutabazi (8) and Aristote Kalala (7) had combined for 15 rebounds for the visitors while Baukin had five to lead UNB.

3rd Quarter –

  • Both teams finished the third quarter with 23 points.
  • Marcus Wilson had the hot hand for the TWolves as he nailed two triples and shot three-for-four. Ben White, Milan Pasquale and Chris Ainsley also hit from downtown.
  • Josh Belvin recorded 11 for Trinity Western on four-of-six while four other Spartans also registered field goals.

4th Quarter –

  • Each team finished with 12 fourth quarter points.
  • Ben White led UNBC with four points while Josh Gillespie and Cam Lalli both connected from deep.
  • Leading the way for Trinity Western was Tyler Sipma (5) while Belvin connected for four more.

Next up for UNBC – A Friday-Saturday road double-header at TRU next weekend.
