Tourism Prince George has announced new Visitor Information Centre is open to the public, as of today January 7.
Situated centrally, with more parking, the new Visitor Information Centre is strategically placed beside the Prince George Conference and Civic Centre (850 Canada Games Way) in the transformed rotunda. This hub spot delivers visitor walkability to downtown events, hotels, the public library, art galleries, and local shops and restaurants. In 2023, the TPG board of directors unanimously approved the location at 850 Canada Games Way after recommendations from an independent consultant which looked at financial feasibility, lease stability, public sentiment and supporting those who are likely to extend their stay in the Prince George community.
“With many conferences and events at the Prince George Conference and Civic Centre it made sense to have the new Visitor Information Centre right there to welcome our visitors. We built on existing infrastructure and are continuing the work on the outdoor plaza to activate the area,” said Colin Carson, CEO.
The Visitor Information Centre provides maps and guides, local hot spot information, and offers PG merch, indigenous art, and artisan wares. The winter season hours are Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with times adjusted for special events. Celebration of the new Visitor Information Centre and the grand opening for the completed project will be in the spring of 2025.
