The City of Prince George has unveiled its updated 2023-2026 Strategic Plan, which outlines priorities to guide community development and resource allocation through 2026. The plan, approved at last night’s council meeting, was informed by a Council workshop that was held in the Fall and reflects their vision of fostering a resilient, sustainable, and inclusive community.
The plan retains four foundational strategic pillars:
- City Government and Infrastructure – Modernizing and maintaining critical infrastructure to serve residents.
- Economic Diversity and Growth – Expanding opportunities and fostering a robust economy.
- Social Health and Well-Being – Enhancing quality of life through community services and safety.
- Environmental Stewardship and Climate Action – Building resilience through environmental initiatives.
“This updated Strategic Plan captures council’s shared goals for a vibrant and sustainable Prince George,” said Mayor Simon Yu. “It is a forward-thinking guide that prioritizes the needs of our community for the remainder of this council’s term.”
Highlights include enhancing City services, fostering economic diversification, advancing climate action initiatives, and improving livability for all residents.
Now the updated strategic plan has been approved, it will inform the City’s updated Corporate Work Plan, detailing specific projects and timelines. This Corporate Work Plan, expected in early 2025, will enable administration to implement the vision effectively.
The proposed plan may be reviewed, reconsidered, and amended by Council as emerging issues arise.
