Snowfall warning issued for Pine Pass

Environment  Canada has issued a snowfall warning for the Willison and Pine Pass areas for tonight and Saturday.

Snowfall with total amounts of about 15 cm is expected. Rapidly accumulating snow can make travel difficult.

A frontal system will bring snow to this region. The snow will begin this evening and ease on Saturday afternoon. Snowfall amounts of 15 cm are expected by Saturday evening. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow. Weather in the mountains can change suddenly resulting in hazardous driving conditions.

Public Safety Canada encourages everyone to make an emergency plan and get an emergency kit with drinking water, food, medicine, a first-aid kit and a flashlight. The site shiftintowinter.ca reminds drivers to know before you go. Adjust to winter driving behaviour and use winter tires and chains. Road conditions are available at drivebc.ca. Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to BCstorm@ec.gc.ca or tweet reports using #BCStorm.
