In a significant boost to community development, a total of $94,434 has been awarded through the Prince George Community Foundation’s Community Impact Grant to fund five transformative projectsaimed at strengthening the local community. These projects, chosen for their potential to create a lasting impact, will address key needs in education, health, infrastructure, and social services, and foster long-term growth and improvement within the community.
The grants will support initiatives that not only address immediate challenges but also promote sustainable solutions that will continue to benefit residents for years to come. The funded projects have been carefully selected for their ability to create positive change and empower individuals from all walks of life.
Key Projects Awarded Funding Include:
- Scouts Canada – Camp Hughes: $10,000 towards their Kitchen Restoration & Renewal project. This project will help to ensure that the kitchen will remain functional and safe for all who use this facility. Not only is this kitchen used by Scouts Canada, but by thousands of other user groups on an annual basis.
- Canadian Red Cross (Prince George): $10,000 to purchase 55 four-wheeled walkers that range in both size and configuration to best meet the needs of clients requiring this equipment for mobility through their HELP loan program.
- Prince George Conservatory of Music: $35,000 to purchase a new Grand Piano for the centre’s main performance space. This piano will be used by students and facility.
- The Exploration Place: $10,000.00 towards the new Children STEAM Gallery at the museum. A new permanent exhibit that is being designed to immerse young learners in hands-on exploration of foundational science concepts.
- Pacific Autism Family Network: $29,434 towards the purchase of a new inclusive playground for the Centre. This will increase the accessibility and inclusivity of their outdoor space for all participants and the community.
These initiatives reflect the collective efforts of community leaders, local organizations, and dedicated residents working together to build a stronger, more resilient community. The impact of these projects will be felt long into the future, ensuring that all members of the community have the support and resources they need to thrive.
About the Community Impact Grant:
The Community Impact Grant is open every Fall and offers up to $100,000 in total funding for larger-scale projects that significantly benefit our community. Eligible organizations may apply for some or all the total funding available. The funding level awarded for approved projects may vary depending on the volume of applications and the quality of proposed projects. Regular programming is not eligible in this grant stream.
