The Prince George Airport Authority (PGAA) and Farmhouse Catering announced today that Locals by Farmhouse, the on-site restaurant, and Gourmet Express Café will conclude operations at YXS the end of the day on November 28, 2024.
After two years of providing dining experiences at the Prince George Airport, Farmhouse Catering is refocusing its business direction and returning to its roots exclusively in catering services, according to a Prince George Airport Authority news release.
Food services play a vital role in enhancing the traveller experience, and the PGAA is actively seeking a new tenant to provide food services at the airport. During this transition, passengers are encouraged to plan accordingly. To ease the inconvenience, the PGAA will offer complimentary catered service for a limited time in the departures lounge.
“Farmhouse Catering set a new standard for excellence in airport hospitality and will be missed by passengers and staff,” said Gordon Duke, CEO and President of the Prince George Airport Authority. “We understand that the availability of food and beverage services is an important part of the overall travel experience, and the PGAA team is actively working to find a new food service provider. We appreciate the patience and understanding of our passengers as we work towards a solution that continues to meet the needs of our airport community.”
While the PGAA focuses on finding a new provider, Farmhouse Catering is excited about its next chapter. Reflecting on their time at the airport, Jessie Jamias, Director of Operations shared their enthusiasm for returning to their core passion.
“We are thrilled to return to our roots and concentrate on what we excel at – creating unforgettable, personalized catering experiences for events, businesses, and special occasions,” said Jamias. “Our time at the airport has been both incredible and a great learning experience, and while we have enjoyed operating the restaurant, this transition allows us to focus on the core of our business – delivering innovative catering solutions that our customers love.”
The PGAA remains committed to providing the highest level of service and will keep the public updated as more information becomes available at pgairport.ca/business-information/media-releases. Every effort is being made to ensure this disruption is as brief as possible.
