About Kiwanis Prince George: Started in 2015 as a fundraiser for the local Kiwanis Prince George service club, the annual AleFest event has experienced tremendous growth support from the community, including recently being honoured as a finalist at the Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Awards.

The event is entirely volunteer run by the local Kiwanis Prince George chapter and relies on partnerships and sponsorships from the local business community, allowing proceeds to go back into benefiting the community in the form of capital projects and community grants to local children’s charities.

This year, through funds raised at Kiwanis AleFest over the years, Kiwanis Prince George gave a substantial donation of $130,000 to the Spirit of the North Foundation towards the APAU (Adolescent Psychiatry Assessment Unit) at UHNBC. This is a unit that specializes in adolescent mental health, and is integral to the well-being of our struggling youth here in Prince George and the region. These funds will go towards renovation of the space, so that the kids can feel safe and secure in what could be a terrifying time in their lives.

In addition, Kiwanis Prince George supports a number of local community organizations through their annual grant program, as well as their annual donation to the Ronald McDonald House BC for a room for northern B.C. families to stay at while their children receive treatment at BC Children’s Hospital.
