Barkerville Historic Town & Park is thrilled to announce the return of the beloved Olde-Fashioned Christmas event happening December 14-15. This enchanting weekend promises festive cheer and delightful experiences for everyone. Visitors can look forward to browsing a variety of unique gifts, handcrafted items, and seasonal treats that perfectly capture the holiday spirit. Mark your calendars and join us in Barkerville for an unforgettable Olde-Fashioned Christmas celebration.

“We’re excited to bring back Olde-Fashioned Christmas,” said Carrie Chard, Barkerville’s general manager, in a news release. “This event returned last year and has been a favourite among our guests. After the challenges posed by the Antler Creek Wildfire this summer, we were uncertain whether we could host it again this year, but thanks to a generous donation from Osisko Mining Development, the event will be bright and lively.”

Those who visit on December 14 and 15 can expect Barkerville’s Olde-Fashioned Christmas to include holiday shopping at McPherson’s Jewellers, Mason & Daly, and C. Strouss, as well as caroling on the Main Street, fresh baking at the Goldfield Bakery, and chili at the House Hotel Saloon. Live programming will be happening throughout the town, and photographs with Father Christmas and horse-drawn sleigh rides will both be available for booking. The blacksmith’s forge will be hot, and the press will be running at the Cariboo Sentinel.

A $12 daily admission will be charged for adults at the gate and online with a $10 rate for seniors. Children and youth will be admitted for free with a non-perishable donation to the Wells Food Hamper. “Admissions are very important to our special events and summer programs,” says Chard. “Maintenance and care for Barkerville’s structures and artifacts are funded by the Provincial Government, but in order to provide quality programming and other services such as public venues and washrooms, the Barkerville Heritage Trust relies on admissions at the gate, as well as grant opportunities, sponsorships, and donations.” 2025 annual passes for the heritage site will be available online for purchase starting December 1st with an early bird rate of 20% off until January 15th.

Barkerville’s Olde-Fashioned Christmas promises to be a magical weekend of lasting memories. Visitors should dress warmly and be prepared for shifting winter weather on Highway 26.
