Too much going on

I blame the BC Northern Exhibition for my being confused the past couple of weeks.

Not, please note, that I’m excusing them from playing in part in my confusion for the past five decades or so. It’s just that they have a fairly major role, even if they don’t know it, in my confusion recently.

It’s not totally on the BCNE, of course. I also have to blame the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Thanksgiving.

Those two long weekends, coming so closely together, meant I didn’t have a chance to get back on my normal Monday to Friday schedule before another Monday was disrupted.

Let’s take a look at what’s been happening. The last weekend of September was a long weekend, which, as I say, disrupts my sleep schedule for the Monday of the long weekend. It also means I’m scrambling a bit to find guests for my Tuesday morning After Nine show on CFIS because I don’t have ‘last-minute’ Monday to work with.

Then we had a regular, Monday to Friday week. And then this past weekend, being Thanksgiving, was another long weekend.

However this time I didn’t have to worry about getting guests for Tuesday’s After Nine. That’s because I don’t host the show on Tuesdays anymore.

That’s where the BCNE comes in. It normally runs Thursday through Sunday, with Thursday being Senior Day and the station broadcasting live all four days.

In the past that meant Senior Moments, our Tuesday afternoon show, would move to Thursday the week of the bCNE so it could be broadcast live. That also meant my Post to Post sports show, which normally ran Thursdays, bounced to Tuesday to fill where Senior Moments had been.

Station manager Reg Feyer noticed my little brain seemed to be having trouble remembering which week Post to Post moved, so he decided to make the move permanent, meaning Post to Post is now heard Tuesday at 1 p.m.

Then Reg looked at the schedule and realized he was making things really tough on my listeners by having my After Nine show on Tuesday morning and Post to Post on Tuesday afternoon. He decided that was too much of me for a listener to take in one day, so my After Nine show moved to Wednesday.

Except there is no show this week because Wednesday and Thursday, the After Nine shows are being filled with portions of the election forums held Tuesday and Wednesday evening at the Q3 Complex.

What it all means is my first Wednesday edition of After Nine will be next Wednesday, October 23, and I’m just hoping I’ve figured things out by the time Remembrance Day rolls around. That’s going to be another long weekend.
