Prince George budget survey launched

The City of Prince George is launching the next stage of its 2025 budget consultation process, with the Citizen Budget survey opening today.

Residents are invited to share their views on the City of Prince George’s budget priorities for 2025. The deadline to complete the budget survey is November 8, 2024.

As in previous years, the Citizen Budget simulator allows participants to explore City budget allocations for various municipal services. Ratepayers can enter their property tax assessment into the platform to see how their tax dollars are distributed across city operations, such as roads, transportation, and other services. Participants can adjust funding allocations to understand how changes to service levels affect their tax bill.

The Citizen Budget survey offers an interactive way for residents to explore the financial impacts of different budget priorities and share their preferences for 2025. Residents who complete the budget survey will be entered into an optional prize draw for a $100 gift card to the local business of their choice.

Check-up Surveys open until November 8

Residents are also encouraged to share their level of satisfaction with various city services by participating in brief, online check-up surveys. Five short surveys are available, each focusing on different municipal services. Participants can choose to complete one or all, and responses will remain anonymous.

The surveys cover the following areas, each with fewer than 10 questions:

  • Events and Recreation
  • Parks and Trails
  • Protective Services
  • Roads and Sidewalks
  • Snow Removal

Reminder: Budget Open House – October 30

In-person consultation on the budget will take place at the Budget Open House on October 30 at the Prince George Conference and Civic Centre. This event provides an opportunity for community members to have their budget-related questions answered by city staff and council while sharing their priorities for the 2025 budget.

  • Information sharing and open house: 3:30 p.m.
  • Presentations by city staff on the budget process, city services, infrastructure, and an opportunity to ask questions to the senior leadership team: 5:30 p.m.

The event offers residents the chance to learn more about the budget, engage with councillors and senior staff, and provide feedback on key issues.

All community input from the surveys and the open house will be presented to City Council ahead of their budget deliberations, which will begin in December 2024.
