Murphy Abraham, former Chief of Lake Babine Nation, is the BC NDP candidate in Nechako Lakes.
He is contesting the seat currently held by BC Conservative leader John Rustad.
Murphy Abraham is a community leader in Burns Lake and across the Nechako Lakes region. In elected office, he has taken action to make life better for his constituents, securing $50 million to build community cultural centres, as well as overseeing a 20,000 hectare land transfer to return territory to the Lake Babine Nation. Now, he’s ready to take action to build housing, strengthen healthcare, and make life more affordable for the people of Nechako Lakes, according to a BC NDP news release.
“People in my community know that we’re facing big challenges. And the BC NDP is ready to take those challenges on,” said Abraham. “David Eby’s BC NDP team is building homes for people, hiring doctors and nurses, and putting money back in your pocket. John Rustad, for his part, has a record of costs and cuts. We can’t afford the risk.”
“Murphy has a long record of acting to make his constituents’ lives better, whether it’s building community cultural centres or running sports and cultural programs for young people,” said Premier David Eby. “The people of Nechako Lakes can count on him to have their back.”
