Prince George RCMP hosting a block party – and you’re invited

Prince George RCMP is inviting the public to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of the city detachment’s opening with them. To mark the event, Mounties are hosting a Block Party on September 14, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and want to invite members of our community to help them celebrate.

“We want this to be a family-friendly celebration that will also help to showcase some of the units that work inside the Detachment. Policing has changed in the ten years since the Detachment first opened and this is a great opportunity for our community members to come and meet some police officers and explore what their units do,” said Inspector Darin Rappel, acting Detachment Commander for the Prince George RCMP.

Police officers from Traffic Services Section, General Investigative Section, Special Victims Unit, Victim Services Unit, Community Policing, STRIVE and others will be hosting tables that people can visit to learn more about those units.

Special guests from the Operational Control Centre, Proactive Recruiting and the Body-Worn Camera Section will also be here to meet with the public.

If you get hungry while learning about our different units, Wings ‘N’ Things, Detsan Cyo Bannock and Afro Caribbean Cuisine food trucks will be on-hand to help satisfy any hunger pangs as you explore! Don’t forget to get a picture with Safety Bear, Mr. PG and our police officers in Red Serge while you’re here!
