Slash pile fire on Broddy Road brought under control

At approximately 2 a.m. on August 15, Prince George Fire Rescue from three halls responded to a large slash pile fire adjacent to a wooded area near the City Of Prince George Transfer Station on Broddy Road.

The fire was brought under control over the course of the next six hours. Heavy equipment operators from the City of Prince George as well as independent contractors worked alongside fire suppression crews to prevent any fire spread to the surrounding wooded area.

No injuries to staff or civilians were reported. No substantial damage to the environment has occurred as a result of this incident.

The cause of this fire remains under investigation.
