Campfire ban in effect in Prince George Friday

Campfires are banned in the Prince George Fire Centre, as of noon on Friday, July 12. The ban will remain until October 15 or until it is rescinded.

The prohibition applies to all public and private land, unless specified otherwise. In addition to prohibiting fires of any size, the following activities are prohibited:

  • Fireworks
  • Sky lanterns
  • Burn barrels or burn cages of any size or description
  • Binary exploding targets
  • Air curtain burners
  • Chimineas
  • Tiki and similar kinds of torches
  • Outdoor stoves or other portable campfire apparatus without a CSA or ULC rating

The fire ban does allow outdoor stoves, if the stove is CSA or ULC-rated rated device used outdoors for cooking, heat, or ambiance, that burns charcoal briquettes, liquid fuel or gaseous fuel, and has a flame height less than 15 centimeters tall.

To report a violation of the fire ban within city limits, call the Prince George Fire Department non-emergency line at the time of the event at 250-561-7664.
