Fire damages building on Dominion Street

At approximately 10:37pm on July 4, 2024, Prince George Fire Rescue crews from four firehalls responded to a reported structure fire in a large residential building in the 500 block of Dominion Street.

Crews found one unit fully charged with dark smoke. The fire in the unit was quickly extinguished with a handline. After extinguishment, the remaining smoke was cleared from the building, followed by atmospheric monitoring to ensure occupant safety.

No injuries to firefighters or civilians were reported.

The cause of the fire was accidental and started from the stove area of the kitchen.

Damage to the building is estimated at $50,000.
