At approximately 3 a.m. on Sunday June 16, Prince George Fire Rescue responded to a reported structure fire in the 1500 block of Victoria Street.
Four halls responded to the alarm with six apparatus. On arrival crews discovered a multi-unit structure with thick black smoke coming from the door of one of the units.
Crews quickly entered the unit and extinguished the fire. Damage to the structure was contained to a single unit. The occupant of the unit was asleep at the time of the fire and was woken up by the fire alarm. Fire crews attended the occupant at scene, where they treated the victim for minor smoke inhalation.
The cause of the fire was due to smoker’s materials. Damage was estimated to be $5,000 dollars to the unit and contents.
