BCGEU president-elect to join Cariboo picket lines this week

Paul Finch

BCGEU President-clect Paul Finch will be visiting Williams Lake and Quesnel this week to show support for the union’s picketing Cariboo Regional District (CRD) workers, who have been on strike since May 13. His visit comes just one week after the BCGEU held its convention where Finch was newly elected to represent 90,000 BCGEU members as their president.

He will be on picket lines at the following times and locations:

  • Quesnel Picket Line – 410 Kinchant St: June 11, 12:30 pm
  • Williams Lake Picket Line – D-180, 3rd Avenue North: June 12, 12:00 pm (noon)

The striking BCGEU members have been fighting for a contract since January. In support of their job action, Finch says that the entire union is very proud of its members at the Cariboo Regional District:

“Northern B.C. is worker-built. By demanding better, our members are ensuring that it’s also worker-led, and they have other BCGEU members from across the province, standing with them, in spirit, every day.”
