Prince George RCMP are reaching out to the public to help identify the victim in a violent assault and robbery that took place at the beginning of April 2024.

Investigators recently received video taken from social media of an assault and robbery that were being shared amongst users of the platform. The video depicts a young man being thrown to the ground and violently kicked until he is unconscious. The suspect then takes cash from the victim. The incident occurred on the 400-block of George Street, likely between April 4 and April 6.

Police officers are releasing a still photo taken from the video, which shows the victim laying on the ground on his back while the suspect approaches him, in the hopes that it will help to identify the victim.

“We are encouraging the victim to come forward and speak with a police officer,” said Cpl. Jennifer Cooper, Media Relations Officer for the Prince George RCMP. “Our RCMP Victim Services unit is here to help the victims of violent crime navigate traumas they have experienced, and will be here to support this victim if he chooses to come forward.”

Anyone with information relating to this investigation is encouraged to contact a police officer by calling the non-emergency line at 250-561-3300 or by anonymously contacting Northern B.C. Crime Stoppers. Please quote file number 2024-10980.
