Kathie Scouten inducted as Life Member of The Exploration Place

The Exploration Place is delighted to announce that Katherine Scouten, a dedicated and passionate volunteer, has been inducted as the newest Life Member of the Fraser-Fort George Museum Society. Kathie has been a steadfast steward of community culture, volunteering for 15 years with the Museum and continuing to devote her time and talents to our work.

Kathie has worked as a Business and Economic Development Consultant, Fund Developer, and Project Manager. She served as a Trustee on The Exploration Place’s board for 15 years, taking on the roles of Vice-President from 2008-2015 and President from 2016-2019. During her tenure, Kathie acted as a liaison with Science World, promoting our programs and partnerships within the community.

Kathie has been instrumental in developing crucial relationships between The Exploration Place and various funders and partners. Her efforts in preparing the business case for the Living Evolution Expansion and Adaptation Project were vital, making it possible to secure funding for the renovation. Kathie also volunteered her expertise to mentor fund development staff and establish strong connections with our supporters.

Kathie’s dedication extends beyond our Museum. She has served as a Board Member with Tourism Prince George, Science World, and the Prince George Airport Authority, and volunteered throughout the community for many causes, including coordinating food bank programs and leading initiatives to promote inclusion for the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. In 2016, Kathie spearheaded a fundraising effort to sponsor a family of Syrian refugees, showcasing her commitment to humanitarian causes.

Kathie’s unwavering advocacy for The Exploration Place, both on and off the board, has been a driving force behind our success. Individuals like Kathie are the keepers of our collective stories and the bedrock upon which our community is built. In recognition of her long-standing commitment and support, the Museum’s Board of Trustees was honoured to induct Kathie as a Life Member of the Fraser-Fort George Museum Society on May 22nd.
