The Peace River Regional District has issued an evacuation order for the Wildmare Creek wildfire due to immediate danger to life safety.
The order is in effect for properties in the following areas:
- Directly West of Bisset Creek
- South to Pine River
- East to Wildmare Creek
There is a critical risk to life safety – YOU MUST LEAVE THE AREA IMMEDIATELY! If you need assistance to evacuate from the area, please call 1-800-670-7773.
Due to fire operations in the area, Highway 97 is currently closed for fire operations. BC Wildfire Service crews continue to respond with aviation support
Local RCMP and the Chetwynd Fire Department are undertaking a tactical evacuation for residences in the immediate area. Based on current conditions and fire behaviour, the BC Wildfire Service is working together with the Peace River Regional District and District of Chetwynd to protect public life and safety.

WHAT YOU SHOULD DO: Visit DriveBC to check for road conditions. Emergency Support Services (ESS) are available for residents under an Evacuation Order.
If you stay with family/friends/other accommodation, you must be outside of the Evacuation Order and Alert area to qualify for ESS support.
If you do not have a place to stay, please go to the Reception Centre at the District of Chetwynd Municipal Office, 5400 Hospital Road, Chetwynd.
