The bruisers of Primetime Wrestling returned to action at the Civic Centre last weekend and local wrestling fans were treated to a pair of events that left them in a frenzy. The return of a Prince George-born star, the crowning of new champions, and a huge charitable donation for the local Scouts were among the highlights.
Prince George Scouting emerged as the biggest winner of the weekend, scoring a cheque for $6,069, marking the biggest single donation by Primetime Wrestling since their launch here in 2022. The wrestling league has donated more than $22,000 to local causes over the past two years.
The city welcomed home Riea Von Slasher last weekend. The Prince George-born woman wrestler started her career here at thirteen years old and has carved an impressive legacy for herself across Canada and the United States. Her appearance marked her first wrestling match in Prince George in 18 years. The hometown crowd was solidly in her corner as she battled Albertan The Matriarch.
The most unpopular verdict of the weekend was a tag team championship victory by “Mr. Beefy Goodness” Vance Nevada and co-conspirator “God of Thunder” Andy Anderson, who snagged the belts from the popular Braydon Goss and local upstart Brandon Van Hellion. The highly decorated duo, who won their first championship as a team in 1997 are declaring this the start of a long and glorious reign.
Primetime Wrestling returns to Prince George on May 4 as part of the Northern Fancon. In addition to the stars that fans have come to expect between the ropes, the event will feature guest appearances by WWE legends “The Mountie” Jacques Rougeau and “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan.
Wrestling fans do not need to purchase Fancon passes to see the May 4 Afterhours event, however meeting WWE legends for photos and autographs will be available at Primetime’s booth during Fancon.
Wrestling tickets are currently available at local vendors J&A Stero+ and the Scrapbook zone, and now also available online at www.ticketseller.ca.
Tickets will also be available at the Primetime booth during Fancon, and at the door.
Proceeds from this event will be donated to the Prince George Humane Society.
